I think your best bet would be to start or join a startup. That's been a reliable way to get rich for hundreds of years. The word "startup" dates from the 1960s, but what happens in one is very similar.

I saved really hard to go on my dream vacation in the last 12 months.  I did a lot of part-time jobs including waitering and tutoring, and managed to accumulate $1200.

For many college students, their dream vacation is to go Japan, Korea or the more expensive Europe.  Those would be wonderful vacation for me too!  Except it is too expensive for me.  I would need at least $3,000 to have a decent 14 to 20 days trip.
